Origin is growing. This spring, we’re stepping up our capacity with an exciting move to a brand new roastery, HQ and café/events space in the village of Porthleven, Cornwall. And we’re looking for ambitious, like-minded people to join us for the next stage of our journey.
The Roastery Operations Manager will play a key part in taking Origin to the next level. Driving improvements in all our operational processes, you’ll oversee roasting, QC, warehousing, logistics, stock control and despatch.
A strong and inspiring leader, you’ll already know the speciality coffee business inside out – with impressive experience working on the ground in this creative and competitive industry. You’ll show the right blend of passion, precision and curiosity in your roasting; and a Q-Grade or SCA qualification in roasting or green coffee would be ideal.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the day to day running of the roastery and warehouse; including weekly production planning and sales forecasting for mainstay and feature coffees; for wholesale, website and retail
Working closely with our Head of Coffee for coffee profiling, releases and product quality control
Monitoring coffee quality control program for roasted coffee stock, through daily production cuppings and scoring
Oversee staffing of production, roasting and warehouse to ensure production and despatch is always resourced, including shift management
Develop and deliver business and continuous improvement change initiatives to achieve high efficiency; lean, six sigma and continuous improvement experience would be desirable
Implement and support cultural change across the company to drive business improvement
Accountable for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the warehouse and roastery operations, with a working knowledge of safe working practices
Accountable for organising and liaising with contractors on servicing and maintenance of roastery equipment, including roasters, labelling and packing equipment
Line management responsibility for roastery production team
Oversee all stock management and warehousing making sure an adequate stock inventory is maintained on green, roasted and ancillary items
Implementing and maximising the operational effectiveness of business systems including Cropster, Unleashed and Xero.
