Are you an experienced coffee professional and fancy switching up your lifestyle? You can go for an early morning surf or bike ride, work with some great specialty coffee during the day and be sat on the beach in time to watch the sun go down with your friends or family… Say hello to our beautiful Island.
Who we are
We are an award-winning family business roasting specialty coffee and supplying quality coffee equipment here on the Isle of Wight and we’re looking for a Coffee Engineer to join our team. We have been roasting on the Island for over a decade and have led the way in bringing specialty coffee to our local market. In normal times we roast 40+ tons a year and have been growing strongly over the last 5 years.
We supply and service a range of coffee equipment from traditional espresso machines from manufacturers such as CMA Astroia & Rocket Espresso, Fiorenzato grinders to Marco filter brewers and water boilers, as well as being a hub for WaterCare water filters.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is ideally experienced in traditional espresso machines or similar and with excellent technical aptitude whilst also being able to confidently interact with customers and deliver top quality customer service. We’re after someone who has a friendly demeanor and good communication skills who can work both as part of a small team and independently. You will need to be organised and with basic IT skills along with being able to manage detailed service records. The role requires someone who can utilise logical thinking to facilitate systematic fault finding and problem solving. A clean UK Driving Licence is essential.
You will need a love of coffee so that you can leave customer machines dialed in and ready to go – and we will provide full training if required.
Even if you don’t have direct coffee engineering experience, but have a passion for coffee and technical experience from another relevant sector or maybe you are a Barista with a good technical mindset and looking to take your coffee career in a different direction, we can provide specific equipment training – if you have the right attitude, characteristics and technical aptitude then this could be your next opportunity.
For the right personality, there is space to develop in the role as we continue to grow with additional management opportunities – and all on an Island with amazing beaches, a vibrant local produce food scene along with a lively music and artisan culture.
The role will cover all aspects of the servicing process, including:
· Management of parts stock
· Allocation of service jobs and management of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
· Fulfillment of servicing work, including PPM, Fault Finding & Pre-install Checks
· Machine refurbishments
· On-site customer work and workshop
· Maintaining servicing documentation
· PPM and repairs on other related Company equipment (e.g. coffee roasters, café equipment, etc.)
· Developing low level PPM training and Troubleshooting content to support our equipment customers
What we can offer…
Alongside the opportunity to live and work in such an incredible place, with nature, beaches and outdoor life all around (yet still only around 3 hours away from London!), you can still work within a truly passionate specialty coffee business that continues to lead the way in the local coffee scene. But aside from providing the perfect balance of life and coffee, you will also get:
· Mon-Fri working week
· Up to 28 days Holiday per annum
· Company Pension Option
· Competitive salary based on experience
· 20% discount on Coffee, Tea & equipment
· 10% discount on food at Caffe Isola (our very own award-winning café & retail space)
· SCA courses available
· Training & Development support
· Potential to grow within the role and business
