We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Cafe Supervisor & Barista to oversee our cafe and front of house at Benk + Bo on Gravel Lane in The City of London. As the Cafe Supervisor you will oversee the day to day operations of the cafe, working on shift (both serving and as a barista), leading the team and creating an enjoyable and positive environment to work in.
We are looking for someone who is a confident self starter and thrives when working autonomously. For the right person this is a unique opportunity to take the role and make it your own in what is a really exciting time for the company. Our business spans many elements and we are a close knit team of all rounders so it would be an added bonus (although not essential) for the candidate to have interests in other parts of the business. E.g. events, content, makers workshop etc. The role will oversee the cafe rota, ordering stock, and ensuring that health and safety processes are being adhered to along with driving sales, building customer relationships etc.
About Benk + Bo
Benk + Bo is a three floor space situated in a Brutalist estate in the City of London. It seeks to bring an accessible, creative and community orientated dimension to London living. Encompassing a range of different projects from food to furniture, book clubs to talks, Benk + Bo encourages the building of tangible community, skills and connections in a world where life is increasingly played out online. On the ground floor we have a cafe serving specialist coffee, house made veg-lead food and baked goods plus a lounge area. Our lower ground floor is home to our open access workspace complete with a selection of books from The Barbican design, art and architecture library. At evenings and weekends our space is transformed into a private and public event space hosting anything from panel talks and art exhibitions to supper clubs and life drawing. In mid to late 2021 we plan to transform our first floor space into a craft workshop / studio to host a range of public classes hosted by professional makers.
We will be reopening on Wednesday 19th May and then open Wednesday – Friday throughout May, moving to Monday – Friday from the start of June. The cafe opens at 8am with shifts starting at 7:30am and we close between 4pm-5pm (post Covid trading levels depending). These would be the core hours with potential for occasional weekend work if we have events.
